Nicosia, Northern Cyprus
Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 - Sunday, June 23, 2013
18th to 23rd June 2013
The economy of Northern Cyprus - officially the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus - is dominated by the services sector. Although its development has been adversely affected by a problematic relationship with the southern part of the island, its economy is closely linked to that of Turkey and it does not suffer from the problems which the south is currently experiencing.
The business part of our visit was focussed on Nicosia but we stayed in the 5 star Malpas Hotel outside the resort of Kyrenia.
The nineteen people taking part in the visit thoroughly enjoyed
the experience and a comment received from one member of the group
is given below:
"The recent Trade visit to Northern Cyprus in June was an amazing first time experience for me. The entire visit was one I will never forget, as the members, being on my own, made me feel very much a part of the group and everyone looked out for one another. What was also really nice, was that there was a vast range of different businesses, and what really made me laugh was the different characters within the group, as they were funny and added extra entertainment to the visit.
The visit to the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce was very interesting,at which I learned a lot about the country and the challenges it faces.
The hotel was a wonderful 5*, well chosen, it was clean, comfortable, food was of a good standard and beautifully laid out. I am already looking forward to the next trip".
