Naples, Italy Trade Visit 2011
Date: Wednesday, October 5, 2011 - Saturday, October 8, 2011
Over the last few years London Southside Chamber of Commerce has run Trade Missions to a wide range of countries. Our most recent visit, in October this year, was a short one - to Naples on the coast of Italy.
Naples is the capital of the Campania region, the third most populated Italian city and the largest one in southern Italy.
Our visit started on 5th October and we returned on 8th October. A meeting with officials at the British Consulate was chaired by the Consul, who gave a fascinating talk on the local economic situation and its relationship to that of Italy as a whole. Rossana Tenerelli, Trade Adviser, proceded to give a more in-depth presentation and also explained how Trade Partrners could assist British businesses hoping to trade with Italy. Individual business appointments were made for members of the group and they also had an opportunity to see the major places of touristic interest.
Our main contact at the Consulate for anyone seeking information or assistance is:

Comments from the delegates:
We asked participants to share their views and recommendations
about the Trade Visit. Here are the comments received so far:
"It was my first trip to Naples and I thoroughly enjoyed it, more so as I was in the good company of other members. Our meeting at the British Consulate was most useful. The Consul General and his staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I do not have any specific suggestions but believe that the sky is the limit for perfection. I thank Southside Chamber of Commerce and particularly Gerry for organising this trip." Bande Hasan from Habibsons Bank
"We enjoyed this visit a lot and found it helpful. The hotel was very pleasant and our meetings were useful." Phillip Henwood from 4 Eyes Ltd, Tax Solutions
"I really enjoyed this visit to Italy. It was particularly well organised. The meetings we attended were extremely informative and useful. My suggestion is that we should have even more meetings, although I do realise that it is important to have some time to experience the local culture and visit local places of interest" Khawaja M. Younis from Best Western The Boltons Hotel.
"Nice hotel with free internet, well located so easy to walk to city centre sites. Excellent meeting at British Consulate. Meeting with architects' office was ok, but practice is clearly short of work and their main project lacking gov funds to proceed. Group visits to typical local businesses would be my suggestion, whatever the local area specialises in, which could involve exports to UK and vice versa." Richard Ellis of Ellis Associates Architects
