Malaysia and Singapore
Date: Saturday, February 8, 2014 - Sunday, February 16, 2014
Britain's commercial ties with Malaysia are extremely strong and Malaysia is the UK's second largest export market in South East Asia, after Singapore.
The UK is one of the largest investors in Malaysia, having invested over £20 billion over the past 30 years. Ten LSCC members took part in a very successful Trade Mission in February 2014.
Our visit focused on Kuala Lumpur, the economic and business centre of the country and centre for finance, insurance, real estate, wholesale/retail trades, restaurants & hotels, transport, communication and utilities.
We also spent 3 days in Singapore, a city state interesting in itself but also the hub and springboard for trading access to Vietnam and other developing economies in the region. Meetings were held with British Trade officials and the Chambers of Commerce in both countries and a number of individual business appointments were also arranged.
Some members of the group have already planned a return visit to Kuala Lumpur in order to follow up the contacts made.
