  • Disability Awareness

An interactive training seminar led by Enhance the UK gave members an insight into how they and their staff’s confidences in supporting and interacting with people who have communication challenges could be improved. Only half of disabled people of working age are in work (50%), compared with 80% of non disabled people... This event has been organised to break down the barriers and anxieties that hinder people from communicating effectively when faced with someone who has a disability. During this informal two hour programme, our dynamic disabled speakers will teach simple techniques and help to remove unnecessary obstacles in communication. The philosophy of this meeting was that there was no better way to help people to feel more at ease with disability than through meeting a range of people with different impairments who could advise and answer any questions our attendees had. This was a free networking buffet with wine and soft drinks. This event took place as follows: DATE: Wednesday 19th September 2012 TIME: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
