Streatham Common Cross Country Run: Saturday 17 September 2011 2011 at 11 am
Anthony Gold Solicitors have been based in Streatham now for nearly over 50 years and have seen major changes to businesses occurring in Streatham.
In many ways, Streatham is like a marometer of the economic climate, with its prominent High Road signalling changes to shop fronts. In its good times coffee bars and delis open. In bad times, shops are shut.
One aspect of Streatham which remains constant however, is its beautiful Common, preserved for all to enjoy by Friends of Streatham Common (visit email@example.com). This part of Streatham is a real gem. The entire common consisting of the Rookery is within a Conservation Area. The Rookery is a Grade II Listed garden which is registered as a garden of historic importance. If you visit the website for Friends of Streatham Common you will see the sterling work they do to preserve this area for everyone to enjoy.
On Saturday 17 September this year, Anthony Gold sponsored an event organised by the Herne Hill Harriers Runners Club. This event came to Anthony Gold's attention through collaboration between members of London South Side. Local businessman, Philip Henwood who runs a Tax Consultancy business (4Eyes Limited) is a member of Herne Hill Harriers Running Club and London Southside. Debra Willson, a Solicitor and Partner with Anthony Gold Solicitors, is also a member of London South Side, and unbeknown to Philip likes long distance running.
The two local businesses saw benefits for the community in this annual event which draws a crowd to Streatham and helps to sustain businesses in the area. There is a prize giving event held at the Pied Bull, which is situated opposite the common. The cafe situated at the top of the Common also receives considerable business on the day.
London Southside is a great way for businesses to link up with each other. Anthony Gold sees this collaboration with 4 Eyes Limited and a local running club, Herne Hill Harriers as being beneficial to the local area and its businesses. Many local businesses contribute prizes for this event.
The event took place in good weather and was well attended with many runners and spectators.
